SFS Compare / Features

SFS can be used to create a snapshot of a database’s structure: tables, fields, and indexes. This snapshot is called a SFS.xml. No data within the database nor login information will be stored or accessed by SFS.

The SFS.xml can then be shared with other developers, added to a Version Control System (VCS), and saved to a backup. Developers will use SFS.xml to compare the snapshot of a database with their own current database.

SFS will compare the SFS.xml with the workspace database and display the differences. The user can then decide whether to accept the change to their local database, update the SFS.xml to match their local database or ignore the difference. If there are multiple differences for a table, the user can decide to make some of the changes to the SFS.xml and some of the changes to the local database at the same time. To drill-down on a particular table, simply double-click it in the list. The user can select individual changes to apply.

SFS Compare requires you to have a VDF developer or client license.  You will need to download a version of SFS Compare for the version of VDF you are licensed for. SFS Compare can be used against ANY version of VDF or DF. A single SFS license can be used with all VDF versions available.
